The things of God are discernable by us when we draw near to Him with our hearts. When we lean into our own understanding, exclusively into our intellectual capacity, the things of God can become less discernable. Even no longer visible.

It is as if spiritual discernment is an overlapping domain, yet not discernable with our minds alone. When we depart from God, our capacity to be enlightened, encouraged, prompted by the Holy Spirit appears to diminish. Finding and holding onto God in our lives is a spiritual persuit in a spiritual domain.

When the activities within the spiritual domain become smaller in our lives, the things of God can become like foolishness to us. Invisible to us. We can lose our bearings and cannot discern that we are adrift in the philosophies of humans, relying only upon what we can see.

However, it is in the mind and intellect of humankind that we can change toward that goodness that is only discerned spiritually. It is in our minds that spiritual change can intentionally take effect. We need to use our intelligence and be smart as well.

Choices that we make can seem to be created in the mind, are of the mind, can be intellectually constructed and spiritually informed.

That we would draw near to God in faith can be seen to be a sign that faith is present, even if just a hope for faith. When the “drawing closer to God” happens, The Comforter rewards us, and moreso when we diligently seek God – when we are drawn to the goodness of God in ways that require faith, even great faith.

It can seem elusive to us if we seek God from outside of the spiritual domain. In the persuit of truth yet with a focus on discrepancies.

Seeking God from an intellectual appoach only. Cognitive and spiritual dissonance can be a final result, a feeling of disconnection incongruence of thought.
