Abbreviations, Terms, Definitions and Meanings

APSATS: The Association of Partners of Sex Addicts Trauma Specialists. A non-profit organisation providing professional training to those affected by problematic sexual behaviour in relationships.

CCPA: Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association.

CECs: Canadian experience class (CEC), Qualifying work experience CECs are granted through the CCPA (Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association).

IAMFC: International Association of Marriage and Family Counsellors.

IDC: Initial Disclosure Conversation. This is the very first conversation I have with a couple at the start of their first session.

IPC: University of Waikato Individual Paper Credit typically offered in one semester.

IPRE: Intimate Partners Relationship Educator 

MPTM: Multidimensional Partner Trauma Model (APSATS).

NIRI: Narrative Informed Relational Interviewing

PLI: Postliminary Intensive is postgraduate training involving a lot of effort or activity in a short period of time, a wide range of duration from 6 hours to a full semester.

Postliminary: Occurring afterward, as a concluding step; successive, succeeding, ensuing, or later studies; post or after graduating.
